Electrify Decatur Offers New Ways to Achieve Household Energy Efficiency,
Lower Homeowner Energy Costs
City of Decatur Residents Can Access Affordable Options for Home Energy Improvements, Including a New Community Energy Rebate Program
DECATUR, Ga. – The City of Decatur is helping homeowners find effective new ways to lower their property’s energy usage through pathways toward affordable options that can reduce home energy costs. City residents can now receive support to:
- Access rebates for new home energy appliances, such as heat pump HVAC systems, hot water heaters and other all-electric solutions, through the newly introduced Community Energy Rebate Program. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative to support homeowners in improving their home comfort, replacing aging appliances with new energy-efficient, electric models, and reducing household energy consumption.
- Buy a specially priced home heat-pump water heater through a special Electrify Group Purchase campaign that discounts these high-tech systems by as much as 20 percent. The group buying program is made possible through Electrify Decatur – the City’s program to assist homeowners in making clean energy decisions and purchases.
- Estimate potential savings via a new Rebate Calculator that allows residents to view how stacking local, state and utility incentives can lead to significant discounts. Now available through Electrify Decatur, this calculator helps homeowners explore different upgrade options and better understand how available rebates can reduce project costs.
The goal of the City of Decatur’s newly offered Community Energy Rebate goal is to help Decatur homeowners access the benefits of home electrification, energy efficiency and weatherization.The first phase of the City’s program is designed for homeowners to receive point-of-sale discounts on eligible projects, with a payment in the approved rebate amount issued to the performing contractor following project completion. Focused on heat pump water heaters, Electrify Decatur’s first Group Purchase program encourages residents to consider replacement of conventional water heaters by buying collectively during a limited-time window now open. Interested purchasers have until Aug. 3 to sign up for free – without obligation – to become eligible to buy a discounted system. Homeowners can save up to 20 percent on the price of the equipment by purchasing a heat pump water heater through this discount method.
