New Electrify Program Coming to Asheville and Buncombe County

We are excited to announce Electrify Asheville-Buncombe County (ABC), a pilot program coming soon to help area residents take additional climate action at home. As you may know, burning fossil fuels at home is warming our planet and making us sick. By getting off of fossil fuels such as natural gas, propane, and oil at home, you can lower your energy costs, reduce your carbon footprint, and improve your indoor air quality, all while making your home more valuable and comfortable.

It all comes down to making key decisions and upgrades to your home over the next few years. The primary focus of the Electrify ABC campaign is energy efficiency and electrification, particularly air-source heat pumps that provide both space heating and cooling. Electrification of our buildings has been identified as a key strategy to achieve 100% renewable energy community-wide by 2042. Electrify ABC is a City of Asheville and Buncombe County-supported pilot program under the umbrella of the Blue Horizons Project, supported by the folks who brought you Solarize-Asheville Buncombe.

Electrify ABC will connect Buncombe County residents with a one-of-a-kind online marketplace hub to help homeowners map and advance their personal journey to an all-electrified home. This unique “electrify” marketplace will make it easy to increase your knowledge of electronic appliances, identify a participating area contractor, and access the available financial incentives and rebates that are available. We invite you to be part of this exciting initiative and again set the standard for the North Carolina and beyond.
