Unique Multi-Community Triad Program Coming Soon to Help Lower Household Energy Costs, Improve Local Residential Energy Efficiency

Triangle Area, NC – A new community-based program will launch in October 2026 to help homeowners and renters in multiple Triangle communities plan their home and property’s energy needs and affordably acquire the latest in energy efficiency technology.
Developed via a public-private partnership involving five local governments and the Triangle region’s planning council, the innovative program known as Electrify the Triangle will provide free support to help local homeowners navigate the maze of different incentives, rebates and financing options now available through state and utility residential energy-focused initiatives.
Triangle area contractors are needed to provide their expertise, equipment and installation services to customers who sign up for the no-cost program. Contractors are needed to help residents learn about and plan their home energy options as well as to execute their projects. Upgrading energy-inefficient homes and using qualified local contractors are key goals of the program, which will generate new, qualified leads for their business.
We are interested in contractors that could provide the following services (Initial or future services) for Electrify the Triangle:
- Installers of HVACs, particularly air-source and ductless heat pumps;
- Water heaters and clothes dryers that use heat pump technology;
- Electric kitchen appliances; induction cooking;
- Residential EV charging equipment;
- Solar and battery backup power;
- E-bikes and electric-powered lawn equipment as well as home energy audits and related energy efficiency, insulation and electrical services.
Electrify the Triangle, developed by a public-private coalition comprised of Central Pines Regional Council, City of Raleigh, Orange County, Chatham County, Town of Carrboro, Town of Chapel Hill, The Clean Energy Fund of the Carolinas, Self-Help Credit Union and Let's Go Electric, will become available publicly in early October 2026.
At that time, the program will be rolled out and communicated widely to help inspire homeowners to improve their home’s energy efficiency, take energy conservation actions and improve indoor air quality. Ultimately, the program aims to make electrification—and the savings, safety and improved comfort it can bring—easier and more accessible to everyone.
The program will feature a free online marketplace — LetsGoElectric.com — in which Triangle-based contractors can showcase their innovative heat pump technologies and energy-efficiency products and systems as well as electrical upgrades for purchase and installation in local homes. Through the program, Home Energy Navigators will also be made available free of charge to homeowners who reside in the sponsored cities. Group purchasing opportunities will also be developed that can benefit future contractor sales.
HOW LOCAL CONTRACTORS CAN BEGIN THEIR PARTICIPATION:
Local contractors eager to enhance their economic involvement in this growing market sector can increase their visibility among current and future customers through participation in the Triangle program.
